Izu Peninsula
Osezaki (大瀬崎)
Train: We provide a shuttle from nearest station (Izu-Nagaoka station) to the divesite at 9:30AM sharp for people staying for the weekend. To get to Izu-Nagaoka station you will need to get on the Izu Hakone Line by changing trains at Mishima station, which happens to be a Shinkansen station and easiest access from Tokyo. The Izu Hakone line is not a JR line so the suica card won't work. You have to exit the gates and walk to the other ticket vending machine and get a ¥320 ticket. JR Staff in Tokyo might be able to sell you a ticket all the way to destination to avoid losing time at Mishima station.
Budget option: From Tokyo to Mishima, instead of Shinkansen, there is also the cheaper and slower Tokkaido line (sometimes with transfer in Atami) which optionally also has a green car seat upgrade for 700 yen which gives comfortable reclining seats for sleeping. Our preferred choice.
Train prices are displayed with both train planners above.
Taxi: For people not staying overnight, one option is to take a taxi to the beach which takes about 30 minutes and 6,000JPY depending on traffic conditions.
